Katalyst Data Management is seeking a Software Development Manager to join our team in Calgary, AB. Reporting to the COO, in this role you will lead our software development team in the creation and maintenance of customer-facing web applications and suite of internal tools. You will work in a highly collaborative and growing environment working closely with operations management, sales management, software architects, software engineers, DBAs, and systems professionals to lead the development of new product offerings and improve existing ones.
Work with internal and external business partners to understand the business’s opportunities and merge those with the company vision
Manage a diverse technical team located in Calgary, AB and Houston, TX and provide leadership in the development of new offerings and improve existing ones
Drive technical design, solution, and execution supporting current state platforms while driving to next generation platforms
Manage performance of all projects and team resources through each phase of initiatives to ensure successful completion and resource allocation across
Manage the development roadmaps for the portfolio identifying which feature requests will be incorporated into the release schedules
Use Project Management skills and techniques to ensure on-time delivery of the releases
Maintain ongoing relationships, communications and awareness with other inter-dependent teams across the organization to drive alignment and coordination of efforts
Develop and manage budgets and forecasts for your department and prepare estimates and manage budgetsfor projects and programs
Maintain a future perspective and ensure management is aware of future challenges in skills and technologies so that appropriate and timely investment decisions can be made
Bachelors Degree in STEM Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) or equivalent work experience in a related field.
8+ years of industry experience including 5+ years in managing people and 2+ years managing software development projects.
Domain experience in Seismic and/or Subsurface data and the PPDM data model is an asset
In depth understanding of Project Management methodologies as a practitioner
Understanding of the complete lifecycle of software product development and software development methodologies.
Excellent interpersonal and verbal/written communications skills.
Demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage work to critical project timelines
